US Police Arrest Homeless Man Over Alleged Plot to Bomb New York Stock Exchange.
U.S. authorities have arrested Harun Abdul-Malik Yener, a homeless man suspected of plotting to bomb the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Wonder why anyone would want to bomb the NYSE?
Well, the story has it that his arrest followed a months-long FBI investigation during which Yener allegedly shared his plans with undercover agents, believing they were members of a militia willing to assist him.
Yener, a 30-year-old Florida native, reportedly sought help to obtain materials for constructing a pipe bomb.
According to court filings, he intended the attack as a way to instigate a “reboot” of the U.S. government.
The suspect chose the NYSE as his target, claiming it had minimal security and would garner public support.
“I’ve already seen it, I know the layout of it, there is barely any security,” Yener allegedly told police.
A search of a storage unit linked to Yener uncovered bombmaking sketches, timers, circuit boards, and other materials that could be used to create explosive devices.
Further investigations revealed a history of internet searches related to bombmaking dating back to 2017, as well as incriminating messages and emails discussing the topic.
No details have been disclosed yet regarding Yener’s court appearance or potential charges.
